Reflective Narrative The Japanese Pre Capstone course teaches students in-depth what a Capstone project is, what it aims to accomplish, and how students can use university resources to create an academic project. Working with our professor and peers we were able to inspect previous classes’ capstone projects and begin to formulate our own. This course was able to fulfill the MLO 4, Research and Technology, by instructing students about the various parts of a research project in preparation for WLC 400, WLC Major Capstone. In this course we planned how to write a research outline, abstract, literature review, and conduct a survey. After formulating our topic and creating a group of 2-3 students we started creating the frame for our research project which would be due at the end of the following semester during our WLC 400 course. For my project, two other students and I chose to study marijuana perspectives in Japan to understand how formal and informal educations affect a society, and how those societies create their respective narratives. Looking back on this course, I can utilize almost all of the concepts when working on future research projects, not only to start research but to be able to explain why it is important to a general audience and question myself on what problem or gap of information I am trying to fill. I hope to learn more research methodologies and expand upon what I have learned from this course. Employing the lessons instructed in this course I will apply these concepts to new topics to better serve local communities. |
