Reflective Narrative The Major Pro Seminar course taught WLC, Spanish, and Japanese majors where students discussed Major Learning Outcomes and what MLO’s mean to students. During this semester students worked on examining courses during their undergraduate career and identified individual learning plans to complete the students BA in a timely and organized way. In this course we also began to work on this e-portfolio by creating the skeletal frame and slowly filling each section in a professional manner. This course ties into MLO 4, Research and Technology, by teaching students how to properly use various programs and modules to organize their academic path, plan for after graduation, and create an educational journal that can be shared to peers, potential career connections, and even family members. In the Japanese track of this course, students were able to plan for how to best record and learn from their study abroad programs, classes, and daily experiences. Japanese major students also were able to intermingle with the Spanish Major cohort in order to exchange ideas, interests, and create inter-departmental connections. From this course, I was able to learn about the importance of how a student can best present themselves using contemporary technology as well as improved upon my organizational skills. I hope to continue to update similar resumes and portfolios to help aid in my post academic life and career. This course connects with all classes, using meta-analysis. While creating an e-portfolio students are able to reflect on each course they have taken so far, and can better understand their own interests and which classes provided the best learning environments to strengthen a student’s university path to reach their future goals. |
